Rent a Bike has been making cycling experiences possible for young and old throughout Switzerland for over 35 years.

In 1987, the newly founded Rent a Bike AG started with 1300 simple bikes - today they offer over 5000 bikes, mountain bikes and e-bikes for practically everyone. In recent years, Rent a Bike has developed beyond the standard range and has made a name for itself as a competent partner, with versatile mobility solutions. Rent a Bike stands for quality, competence and versatility.

In the future, the company will continue to expand its innovative range. For example, all rental vehicles as well as the A-B rentals - e.g. from Lausanne to Romanshorn - will be offered nationally, so that all pleasure-seekers and active people can enjoy their excursions on the SwitzerlandMobility network without worry. The company strives to offer all two-wheeler fans the perfect mobility solution not only for day trips or club excursions, but also to always focus on the wishes of its customers. Rent a Bike offers over 5,000 bikes, mountain bikes, e-bikes and e-mountain bikes, providing the right riding experience for practically everyone. Thanks to our loyal distribution partners, we will continue to be present in all Swiss tourist regions with our 150 rental stations in 2022.

History

1987	The newly founded Rent a Bike wins the SBB tender for the operation of the "rental bike at the station" with an innovative concept.
2001	Pilot test for an e-bike rental with 50 e-bikes in the Three Lakes Region
2002	Launch of the first mobile bike station for groups and events Opening of the Rent and Service Centre Airolo
2003	First tourist rental with battery exchange station on the new Herzroute between Willisau and Halse Rüegsau
2004	Opening of the Romanshorn Pension and Service Centre
2005	Takeover of Rent a Bike by Tour de Suisse Holding and Stefan Maissen
2006	Opening of the Murten Pension and Service Centre
2015	Opening of the new headquarters in Willisau with rental station, shop, workshop and logistics centre
2019	Opening of the Bellinzona/Locarno Pension and Service Centre

Rent a Bike is the leader in Switzerland in the rental of bicycles, e-bikes and mountain bikes. We are present at the forefront in all parts of the country with 150 rental points. The latest top-quality equipment with the best advice. The fleet is constantly renewed, no bike is older than 3 years. There are 4500 bikes of various types available at 150 rental stations.
